Casting
is a process of manufacturing, in which a 'liquid'
material or a metal is poured into a ‘mold’
which has a desired shaped hollow cavity, and
then made to solidify. Casting can be used to
give any complex shape to the liquid metal which
is not possible through other methods. There
are different types of casting. Die casting
is one of them. In an ordinary die casting process,
the molten metal is forced into the cavities
of the mold under high pressure. But Gravity
Die Casting uses the force of gravity, instead
of high pressure, to fill a permanent mold,
or die, with molten material. Sometimes this
type of die casting is also known as gravity
fed die casting.
Gravity die casting machine can manufacture
a range of gravity die cast components from
small simple components produced from a 2 part
die on a simple manual single station machine
(for example door handles) up to a fully automatic
6 station gravity die casting machine producing
cylinder heads or cylinder blocks for the automotive
industry complete with full PLC control, automatic
die loading and unloading and interlocking with
robot metal pouring systems.
Gravity die casting machines are also manufactured
by Rockman Industries which is a Supplier of
